| 英文描述 | HEPATOZOOAN CANIS is a parasite of dogs that has a coccidian life cycle, and causes relatively mild and treatable disease. Spread by ingestion of the tick RHIPICEPHALUS SANGUINEUS. HEPATOZOOAN AMERICANUM has been reported in the southern U.S., has as its host the gulf coast tick AMBLYOMMA MACULATUM, and causes more severe clinical disease. Signs may wax and wane over a period of a year or more or infection may be asymptomatic. Periosteal new bone formation has been seen. Laboratory findings might include leukocytosis, high alkaline phosphatase activity, hypoglycemia, nonregenerative anemia, and hypoalbuminemia. Dx by identifying organisms in muscle biopsies or circulating white blood cells, but organisms can be difficult to find. |
